In a major move to aid farmers, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced the launch of the Annadata Sukhibhav Scheme, set to roll out in May 2025. The scheme aims to provide financial support of Rs 20,000 per year to eligible farmers in the state. This initiative is designed to alleviate agricultural expenses and will complement the existing PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme. The assistance will be disbursed in three instalments, with the first payment set for May 2025.
Financial Assistance for Farmers
Under this scheme, farmers will receive Rs 20,000 annually, with Rs 14,000 coming from the state government and Rs 6,000 from the central PM Kisan scheme. The total amount will be divided into three instalments: Rs 7,000 in May 2025, followed by similar payments in October 2025 and February 2026. This financial relief is expected to help farmers cover their agricultural expenses, providing crucial support to sustain their livelihoods.
Additional Benefits Beyond Financial Relief
In addition to the monetary assistance, the Annadata Sukhibhav Scheme will provide several other benefits, including the supply of seeds, fertilizers, and compensation for damages caused by natural calamities. These provisions aim to not only enhance the financial condition of farmers but also boost their productivity by providing access to better-quality inputs for farming. The scheme is especially beneficial for small and marginal farmers, who are often hit hardest by natural disasters.
The government has ensured that the scheme will be coordinated with the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, which provides Rs 6,000 annually to farmers in three instalments. By combining the two schemes, farmers will receive comprehensive financial aid, reinforcing their self-sufficiency in the agricultural sector. The government will soon announce the official application process and timeline, with eligibility requiring that farmers be permanent residents of Andhra Pradesh and engaged in farming as their primary occupation.
For eligible farmers, this scheme will be a lifeline, helping them weather the challenges posed by agriculture and natural disasters. The government is hopeful that this initiative will strengthen the agricultural sector and improve the living standards of farmers across the state.
