New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): INDIA alliance candidate from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, Jagat Prakash Aggarwal, on Saturday cast his vote for the ongoing sixth phase of Lok Sabha Elections at a polling booth in Chandni Chowk.

Addressing the media, after casting his vote, Aggarwal criticized the incumbent government’s track record, citing failures across key issues.

“The whole election is fought on major issues. It is a 100 percent failure of the present government. Be it unemployment, price hike, labourers, farmers, inter state relations. There is no issue in which government could be successful,” Aggarwal said.

Rejecting the BJP’s “Ab ki baar 400 paar” slogan for the Lok Sabha elections, Agarwal asserted, “We are witnessing a significant shift in public sentiment. The INDIA alliance is poised to secure victory in all seven seats. The BJP might be limited below 100 seats”.

Veteran Congress leader JP Aggarwal is pitted against Parveen Khandelwal of the BJP for the Chandni Chowk seat in the 2024 general elections.

The BJP has won the Chandni Chowk constituency in the last two Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019, with former Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan representing the area for the past 10 years.

The Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress are fighting the elections in alliance in the national capital, with the AAP contesting four and the Congress three seats.

The seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi are Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, South Delhi, and West Delhi.

Voting for all the seven Lok Sabha seats of the national capital is underway, and a total of 162 candidates are in the fray.

There are more than one crore 52 lakh voters in Delhi, out of which 82 lakh are male and around 70 lakh are female voters. More than two lakh 52 thousand young voters will exercise their franchise for the first time.

The first five phases of polling were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20. (ANI)
