Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav emerged victorious in the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, securing a significant lead of approximately 1,70,000 votes over his closest rival, BJP MP Subrata Pathak.
According to data released by the Election Commission, Akhilesh Yadav garnered a total of 6,42,292 votes, while Subrata Pathak received 4,71,370 votes. Imran Bin Zafar of the BSP secured 81,639 votes in the electoral contest.
Under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has emerged as the preeminent political force in Uttar Pradesh during this election, securing victory in 36 seats and leading in one. Meanwhile, the BJP faced significant setbacks, managing to secure victory in 33 seats.
Throughout the election campaign, Akhilesh Yadav highlighted the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Samajwadi Party-led government during his tenure as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017. Projects such as the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, metro connectivity, the establishment of an international stadium, and a cancer hospital in Lucknow were cited as notable achievements.
In a parallel electoral victory, the SP chief’s wife, Dimple Yadav, emerged victorious in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency.
Akhilesh Yadav’s decisive win in Kannauj underscores the party’s stronghold in the region and signifies a significant endorsement of his leadership and vision by the electorate.
