Bengaluru is set to witness the grand opening of the 15th edition of Aero India, Asia’s largest aerospace and defence exhibition, at the Yelahanka Air Force Station on Monday. With the theme “The Runway to a Billion Opportunities,” the five-day event will showcase the latest advancements in aerospace technology, fostering global partnerships and promoting India’s growing capabilities in the defence sector.
Spanning over 42,000 square metres, this year’s Aero India marks the largest edition yet, with participation from over 900 exhibitors, including 150 international firms. The event has attracted more than 90 nations, underscoring India’s increasing significance in the global aerospace and defence landscape. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized its importance, stating that the presence of defence ministers or representatives from 30 countries, along with air chiefs and secretaries from 43 nations, reflects the confidence of the global defence community in India’s technological prowess and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Speaking ahead of the event, Singh highlighted the role of Aero India in reinforcing the government’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence. He noted that the exhibition serves as a crucial platform to showcase India’s resilience, innovation, and self-sufficiency, helping forge strategic partnerships with friendly nations while advancing collaborative efforts in defence technology. He further stressed that the event is not just a demonstration of military and aerospace capabilities but also a source of inspiration for India’s youth, fostering scientific curiosity and a spirit of innovation among aspiring engineers and scientists.
The exhibition will run from February 10 to 14, with the first three days, from February 10 to 12, dedicated to business meetings and high-level discussions among industry leaders, policymakers, and government officials. These exclusive sessions aim to boost international collaborations, encourage investment in India’s defence manufacturing, and facilitate knowledge-sharing in aerospace technology. On February 13 and 14, the event will be open to the general public, allowing visitors to witness breathtaking aerial displays, cutting-edge defence technologies, and state-of-the-art fighter jets up close.
