A Delightful Creation | Adrak Ka Halwa Recipe

Let’s embark on a culinary journey to discover the art of crafting this aromatic and delectable dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup grated ginger
  • 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • A pinch of cardamom powder
  • Chopped nuts for garnish (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
  • Saffron strands for added aroma and color (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Grate the Ginger: Begin by peeling and grating fresh ginger. You should have about one cup of grated ginger.
  2. Sauté in Ghee: Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add the grated ginger and sauté it on low to medium heat. Stir continuously until the ginger turns golden and releases its aroma.
  3. Add Sugar: Gradually add sugar to the sautéed ginger. Keep stirring as the sugar melts and combines with the ginger. This will create a syrupy texture.
  4. Infuse with Flavor: Pour in the milk and continue to stir. The milk adds a creamy consistency to the halwa. Add a pinch of cardamom powder for a delightful fragrance.
  5. Optional Saffron: For an extra layer of aroma and color, you can add saffron strands soaked in a teaspoon of warm milk. This step is optional but enhances the halwa’s visual appeal.
  6. Simmer to Perfection: Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously. The halwa will thicken and start leaving the sides of the pan. This may take approximately 20-25 minutes.
  7. Garnish: Once the halwa reaches the desired consistency and the ghee separates, remove it from heat. Garnish with chopped nuts of your choice.
  8. Serve: Adrak Ka Halwa can be served warm or at room temperature. It makes for a delightful dessert after a hearty meal or during festive occasions.
