New Delhi | In the year 2024, elections will be held not only in India but also in approximately 70 countries around the world, including the United States, South Africa, and Russia. According to a website monitoring global elections, about 49 percent of the world’s population will participate in these elections, but all eyes are focused on the 18th Lok Sabha elections currently underway in India. Recently, general elections have been conducted in Russia and Pakistan.
According to the website monitoring global elections, this year will also see elections for the American presidency. Additionally, elections are slated to take place in 70 countries in 2024, including South Africa, the European Union, and Bangladesh. Nearly half of the world’s population, or 49 percent, will participate in these electoral processes.
All eyes are on India
India’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Rajiv Kumar, stated on Wednesday that elections are scheduled to be held in 70 countries around the world this year. He emphasized that all eyes are on India because it is the world’s largest and oldest democracy. Consequently, India is fully committed to conducting elections that are entirely free, fair, impartial, and devoid of any tampering. Kumar made these remarks during a review meeting with the Chief Secretaries of all states, Directors General of Police, and heads of central agencies.
The purpose of this meeting was to review the law and order situation to ensure a peaceful, impartial, and bribery-free Lok Sabha election. The Election Commission has emphasized the need for strict surveillance on all states and international borders to prevent the smuggling of illegal liquor, cash, narcotics, and weapons. Moreover, the Commission has stressed the importance of monitoring the trafficking of prohibited items, including narcotics, liquor, weapons, and explosives, across international borders.
Polling personnel will be transported to the centers with the help of Air Force
Assistance from the Air Force will be sought to transport polling personnel to challenging areas in 11 states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. Additionally, recent incidents in Manipur were discussed in the context of conducting peaceful elections.
