A 30-year-old school van driver has been arrested in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district for allegedly assaulting a nursery student, according to local police reports. The incident occurred on Friday in the Mango area of Jamshedpur, leading to widespread shock and concern in the community.
The accused, identified as Jaishree Tiwary, was apprehended within hours after the victim’s mother filed a complaint on Saturday. The swift arrest was made by a special police team under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal.
The incident came to light when the three-and-a-half-year-old victim complained of severe discomfort after returning home from school. The child disclosed the traumatic experience to her mother, who immediately sought help from the authorities.
Superintendent of Police (City & Rural) Rishava Gard stated that the medical examination of the child has been completed, and the accused has been taken into judicial custody. The police have also impounded the school van involved in the incident.
The police have assured the victim’s family that the investigation is being conducted with urgency and that a chargesheet will be filed within a week. The case has highlighted the need for stringent safety measures for children and careful screening of individuals in positions of trust.
