The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a firm stance following the tragic death of software engineer Yuvraj in Noida, after his car fell into a water-filled roadside basement. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a high-level investigation, signaling the government’s zero-tolerance approach toward negligence and accountability.
SIT Constituted to Probe the Case
A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the incident. The SIT will be headed by the Additional Director General of Police, Meerut Zone, and will also include the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD).
The SIT will examine all aspects of the case, including administrative lapses, law and order concerns, and potential infrastructural deficiencies that may have contributed to the tragedy. Officials have emphasized that the investigation will be impartial, time-bound, and thorough.
Noida Authority CEO Removed Amid Accountability Concerns
In a major administrative step, the Chief Executive Officer of the concerned authority has been removed from the post. Officials indicate that further action may follow depending on the SIT’s findings. The move reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability at all levels.
Senior officials have stated that the investigation will assess negligence, adherence to safety norms, and the performance of officials and agencies responsible for oversight in the area. The Chief Minister has made it clear that anyone found guilty of lapses, regardless of rank, will not be spared.

Greater Noida Authority Launches Safety Drive
Proactive Measures After Noida Incident
In response to the fatal accident, the Greater Noida Authority has launched an intensive safety drive targeting accident-prone areas. Acting on the directions of CEO N.G. Ravi Kumar, officials have been instructed to identify and rectify hazardous spots, pits, and depressions on roads to prevent future accidents.
Field Inspections and Safety Measures
Additional CEOs Lakshmi V.S. and Sumit Yadav are supervising the operation. Teams from the Project Department are conducting field surveys to mark vulnerable locations, install road markers, cat’s eyes, reflectors, speed breakers, and barricade open drains. Proper street lighting and signage are also being ensured.
Developer Compliance and Public Awareness
Builders and developers have been directed to strictly follow safety norms at construction sites. The authority requires affidavits certifying that all accident-prone areas in each work circle have been secured. Vehicle drivers are also urged to follow traffic rules and exercise caution, especially in areas under safety works.
