Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], October 25 (ANI): As the cyclone Dana made a landfall in Odisha in the early hours of Friday, heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred in isolated places at Odisha and heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi confirmed that no reports of casualties were recorded and the target of zero casualty was achieved due to proper planning and execution.

Speaking to the media, Manjhi said “There has been no report of any casualty anywhere. We have achieved the target of zero casualty due to proper planning and execution. We have shifted more than six lakh people to safer places. Airport service have become normal. The first flight in the state landed at 9 a.m. today and all road blockage will be cleared by 1 p.m. today.”

The National Disaster Response Force also uprooted trees in Dhamra as the restoration work in the area continued.

Meanwhile, people took refuge at a shelter in Balasore where food was distributed to them.

Earlier today, the Indian Railways confirmed that all the trains will run as per the schedule, except the cancelled trains, which were notified earlier in the cyclone Dana-affected states.

The trains coming from the south (Visakhapatnam side) towards Bhubaneswar and Howrah will run as usual, according to the railway ministry.

Trains from Kharagpur side towards Visakhapatnam will be received at Bhadrak Station.”Trains from Kharagpur side towards Visakhapatnam will be received at Bhadrak Station at about 1400 hrs. The first scheduled train is 12245 Howrah-Bangalore Duronto Express,” the ministry said.”Trains scheduled to originate from Bhubaneswar and Puri will commence after 1200 hours today, except notified cancelled trains,” it added.

The weather department, in its latest update, informed that the landfall process has been completed and the cyclone will weaken gradually into a deep depression in the next six hours.

“The severe cyclonic storm Dana moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 10 kmph and weakened into a cyclonic storm over north coastal Odisha and lay centred near latitude 21.20° N and longitude 86.70° E at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 25 October, about 30 km northeast of Bhadrak and 50 km north northwest of Dhamara,” IMD said in a post on X.
