Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday. According to doctors, Mr. Lal Krishna Advani is in stable condition and under observation.
Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi (now in Pakistan), Mr. Lal Krishna Advani joined the RSS as a Swayamsevak in 1942. He has been a prominent figure in Indian politics, serving as the BJP National President from 1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998, and 2004 to 2005. Known for his leadership, he held the longest tenure as the party’s president since its establishment in 1980.
Mr. Lal Krishna Advani’s political career includes significant roles such as Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure (1999-2004). He was also the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2009 general elections, where he served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament.
Recently, on March 30, 2024, President Draupadi Murmu conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, upon Mr. Lal Krishna Advani for his contributions to public life.
Mr. Lal Krishna Advani’s health condition remains a topic of concern among political circles, with well-wishes pouring in for his speedy recovery.
