Renowned Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning after experiencing chest pain. According to media reports, the 73-year-old actor conveyed feeling uneasy, prompting his admission for medical evaluation. However, his family has reassured the public, stating that it’s merely a routine checkup.
Mithun Chakraborty’s elder son, Mimoh Chakraborty, provided assurance regarding his father’s health status, telling indianexpress.com, “He (Mithun Chakraborty) is 100 percent fine and it’s a routine checkup.”
The actor underwent an MRI
Hospital authorities, confirming the actor’s medical procedures, informed news agency PTI that Mithun Chakraborty underwent an MRI and is currently undergoing further medical tests. A spokesperson for the Kolkata hospital where Mithun is being treated stated, “Mithun Chakraborty has been admitted this morning and is undergoing medical evaluation. We will be able to provide further details later.”
A doctor at the hospital, speaking to PTI, mentioned, “The reports of the MRI are awaited. He is currently under the supervision of a neuromedicine specialist.”
Recently honored with Padma Bhushan
Meanwhile, Mithun Chakraborty, known for his versatile roles in Indian cinema, was recently bestowed with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in January 2024. Expressing his gratitude, the actor conveyed in a video message, “After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honor… It is a feeling I can’t express. I am dedicating this to all my fans in India and abroad, who have given me unconditional love.”
