Rio de Janeiro [Brazil], November 17 (ANI): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Brazil on November 18, the Indian diaspora expressed their enthusiasm and said that they have started preparations to greet the PM.

PM Modi will be heading to Brazil for the 19th G20 Summit, scheduled to take place from November 18 to 19.

Indian diaspora is delighted to see their leaders and have prepared various cultural performances like Garba to welcome the PM.

“I am very excited. We have done a lot of preparations. Women have organised a garba dance to welcome him,” Rajni a member of the Indian diaspora told ANI.

Another member, Dipali, said that she is planning to make food for PM Modi.

“I am planning to make some food for PM Modi. I am trying to bring some Gujarati touch to the food.”

Additionally, Children have prepared to sing ‘Vande Mataram’ upon PM’s arrival.

PM Modi will arrive in Brazil on the second leg of his 3 nation visit. He will attend G20 Summit, scheduled to take place from November 18 to 19.

As a Troika member, India will play a significant role in shaping the agenda, building on the momentum from its own G20 presidency. Brazil is expected to maintain the focus on Global South priorities, ensuring continuity and progress on key issues.

“In Brazil, I will attend the 19th G-20 Summit as a Troika member. Last year, India’s successful Presidency elevated the G-20 to people’s G-20 and mainstreamed the priorities of the Global South into its Agenda. This year, Brazil has built upon India’s legacy. I look forward to meaningful discussions in keeping with our vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future.’ I will also use the opportunity to exchange views on furthering bilateral cooperation with several other leaders,” PM Modi said in an official statement.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi arrived in Nigeria, kick-starting his 5 days visit to three nations. He was warmly welcomed by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister for Federal Capital Territory upon his arrival in Abuja, the capital city of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Minister Wike presented PM Modi with the ‘Key to the City’ of Abuja. The key symbolises the trust and honour bestowed on the PM by the people of Nigeria.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions in Nigeria to strengthen the ties between both countries.

PM Modi issued a statement indicating his first stop in Nigeria, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s invitation, aimed at strengthening strategic ties between both countries.

“At the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, this will be my first visit to Nigeria, which is our close partner in the West African region. My visit will be an opportunity to build upon our Strategic Partnership that is based on shared belief in democracy and pluralism. I am also eagerly looking forward to meeting the Indian community and friends from Nigeria who have sent me warm welcome messages in Hindi,” the statement said.

PM Modi’s final destination is Guyana, where he’ll make history as the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country in over five decades. (ANI)
