In a significant operation, the Uttar Pradesh Child Commission successfully rescued 95 children who were reportedly being transported illegally from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh. The rescue operation took place on Friday under the supervision of the commission members.
According to Sarvesh Awasthi, Chairperson of the Ayodhya Child Welfare Committee, the commission received information regarding the illegal transportation of children from Bihar to Saharanpur via Gorakhpur and Ayodhya. Acting swiftly upon this tip-off, the commission coordinated efforts to intercept and rescue the children.
Sarvesh Awasthi stated, “Those responsible for transporting the children lacked consent letters from parents. The rescued children, aged between 4 to 12 years, expressed confusion regarding their destination.” He further added that the children were provided with food and medical assistance upon rescue.
Efforts are underway to contact the parents of the rescued children, and they will be handed over once their guardians arrive. The rescue operation underscores the commission’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare and rights of children.
This incident follows a recent rescue operation where children from Bihar, destined for madrasas across different states, were intercepted and rescued by the Uttar Pradesh State Child Commission in Gorakhpur. The initiative received commendation from Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection Of Child Rights, who emphasized the constitutional right to education for every child and condemned the exploitation of children for religious purposes.
