The United States has announced sanctions against three Chinese companies and a Belarus-based firm for their involvement in providing materials to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. The move targets entities involved in proliferating weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems.
According to an official statement from the US State Department, the designated entities have supplied items relevant to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, including components for its long-range missile capabilities.
The sanctions, imposed under Section 1(a)(ii) of Executive Order 13382, aim to block all property and interests in property of the designated persons within US jurisdiction. Additionally, transactions involving these entities are prohibited unless authorized by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) or exempted.
Among the sanctioned entities is the Belarus-based Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, which has allegedly supplied specialized vehicle chassis to Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missile program. These chassis are reportedly used as launch support equipment by Pakistan’s National Development Complex (NDC), responsible for developing advanced ballistic missiles.
The Chinese firms targeted by the sanctions include Xi’an Longde Technology Development Company Limited, accused of providing missile-related equipment such as filament winding machines to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. Such machines are essential for producing rocket motor cases.
Tianjin Creative Source International Trade Co Ltd, another Chinese entity, has been implicated in supplying equipment like stir welding equipment and linear accelerator systems to Pakistan’s missile program, with the US assessing their potential use in space launch vehicle production and rocket motor inspection.
Granpect Company Limited, also based in China, allegedly collaborated with Pakistan’s SUPARCO to provide equipment for testing large-diameter rocket motors. Additionally, Granpect Co. Ltd. has been accused of supplying similar testing equipment to Pakistan’s NDC.
The imposition of sanctions underscores US efforts to curb the proliferation of missile technology to countries of concern, particularly those engaged in the development of advanced ballistic missile capabilities.
