The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has unveiled the notification for the UPSC Civil Service Examination (CSE) 2024 prelims today, on February 14. Prospective candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can access the notification and apply for the preliminary examination on the official website at upsc.gov.in, once it is made available. The application window for the CSE prelims exam will remain open until March 5. The preliminary examination is scheduled to take place on May 26, while the mains examination is slated for October 19.
The notification comprehensively outlines all the essential details concerning the examination, including the age limit, eligibility criteria, examination structure, and significant dates. Candidates interested in applying for the UPSC exam must possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
Vacancy Details:
The commission has notified a total of 1056 vacancies for this year’s examination. Among these, 40 vacancies are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category. These include 06 vacancies for candidates with blindness and low vision, 12 vacancies for those who are deaf and hard of hearing, 09 vacancies for locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy, and 13 vacancies for multiple disabilities among persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness, as per the official notice by UPSC.
Application Process:
Candidates can apply for the prelims exam by following these steps:
- Visit the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.
- Locate the UPSC CSE 2024 notification link on the homepage.
- Click on the link to access the PDF file containing the preliminary exam notification.
- Register and fill out the application form.
- Upload the required documents and complete the payment of the application fee.
- Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
Application Fee:
Candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs 100 to apply for the exam. However, women, SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted from paying the fees. The payment can be made through various modes, including cash deposit at any Branch of the State Bank of India or through online methods like Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card, or UPI Payment.
As per the official notification, applications are invited solely for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination. Candidates who qualify for the prelims will proceed to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, for which they will have to apply online again and submit the required documents along with the examination fee.
