As the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) gears up to commence the UP Board high school and intermediate exams from today, February 22, 2024, the state government has left no stone unturned in ensuring the integrity and security of the examination process. With a staggering 55,25,308 candidates expected to appear for the exams, including 29,47,311 for class 10 and 25,77,997 for class 12, meticulous preparations have been undertaken to uphold the sanctity of the evaluations.
In a bid to maintain strict vigilance and deter any malpractice, the authorities have established a comprehensive network of surveillance and control centers at both state and district levels. Alongside the Directorate of Secondary Education, Lucknow, Examination Center Lucknow, and the Headquarters of the Council, Prayagraj, five regional offices have been designated as command and control centers. These centers will facilitate live monitoring of all examination centers and ensure swift response to any untoward incidents.
At the grassroots level, similar command and control centers, helplines, and other arrangements have been put in place to oversee the proceedings at district examination centers. Live monitoring, enabled by CCTV cameras, will be conducted round the clock to maintain transparency and integrity.
To bolster security further, examination papers will be opened under the watchful eye of CCTV cameras, with armed forces deployed for 24-hour surveillance at collection centers and strong rooms. The morning security force will conduct regular inspections of the strong rooms to prevent any tampering or unauthorized access.
In a pioneering move, the authorities have introduced safe QR codes and computerized identification cards with QR codes and serial numbers for approximately 3.11 lakh examiners. Additionally, examination booklets have been printed with QR codes and serial numbers on the cover page, further enhancing security measures.
Ahead of the examinations, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued stringent guidelines for candidates to adhere to. The UP Board admit card has been mandated for entry into the examination hall, with strict enforcement ensuring non-compliance leads to denial of entry. Candidates must strictly adhere to the reporting time specified on their admit cards, and only stationery items sanctioned by the exam center will be permitted inside the examination hall.
Moreover, electronic devices such as mobile phones, electronic watches, and earphones have been strictly prohibited to prevent any unfair means. Candidates are urged to abstain from overwriting and cutting on the answer sheet, and thorough reading of all instructions provided on the question paper and answer sheet before attempting any questions is advised.
