In a bid to set a Guinness World Record for cleanliness, the Uttar Pradesh government is launching a massive cleanliness drive in Prayagraj as part of the ‘Swachh Maha Kumbh’ initiative envisioned by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The campaign, set to take place on Monday, will witness the participation of over 15,000 sanitation workers who will conduct a synchronized cleaning operation across four designated zones. The initiative aims to reinforce Maha Kumbh’s commitment to hygiene and sanitation, setting new benchmarks in cleanliness and public health standards.
The Maha Kumbh, a grand religious gathering, has been dedicated to maintaining high levels of cleanliness, earning it the title of ‘Swachh Maha Kumbh’. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Adityanath, the state government has consistently prioritized sanitation efforts at the Kumbh, ensuring a cleaner and more organized event. Officials believe that this historic effort will further elevate Maha Kumbh’s global reputation and set an example for large-scale religious gatherings worldwide.
A previous world record attempt for cleanliness was also undertaken during Maha Kumbh when a large-scale initiative was launched to clean the river Ganga. More than 300 sanitation workers participated in a coordinated river-cleaning drive across multiple ghats in Prayagraj, demonstrating the government’s commitment to environmental conservation and hygiene. This time, the scale of the campaign is significantly larger, with thousands of workers engaged in an organized and strategic cleanliness drive across different sectors of the Maha Kumbh area.
According to the official schedule, the cleanliness campaign will commence at noon, covering multiple key locations. The designated zones include Helipad Parking in Sector 2 and Prayag Area in Zone 1, Bharadwaj Ghat in Sector 7 along with Salori and Nagvasuki Area in Zone 2, Old GT Road and Harishchandra Ghat in Sectors 5 and 18, covering the Jhunsi Area in Zone 3, and Chakramadhav Ghat in Sector 24, Arail Area near Pontoon 26 in Zone 4. These areas have been strategically selected to ensure maximum impact and efficiency in the cleaning operation.
In addition to this ambitious cleanliness drive, the state government is also planning two more world record attempts related to sanitation and hygiene at Maha Kumbh. These initiatives align with the broader objective of making the Maha Kumbh one of the cleanest and most well-managed religious gatherings in the world. The administration has been actively promoting awareness about cleanliness and encouraging participation from various sections of society, including volunteers, devotees, and officials.
With the Maha Kumbh attracting millions of pilgrims and visitors from across the globe, ensuring high sanitation standards has been a top priority for the state government. The ‘Swachh Maha Kumbh’ initiative is not just about achieving a world record but also about instilling a culture of cleanliness and hygiene among attendees. The success of this campaign could serve as a model for future large-scale religious and cultural events in India and beyond.
Officials are hopeful that the Guinness World Record attempt will be successful and will further establish Maha Kumbh as a benchmark for cleanliness and organization. With extensive planning, coordinated efforts, and widespread participation, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to make this initiative a milestone in the history of Maha Kumbh, reflecting the commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment.
