As part of preparations for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, a grand JDU workers’ conference was held on Sunday at the Bihar Labor Welfare Center ground. Union Minister and JDU leader Rajeev Ranjan, popularly known as Lalan Singh, attended the event, boosting the morale of party workers and launching scathing attacks on opposition leaders.
During his speech, Lalan Singh reminisced about Bihar before 2005, stating that it was a time when kidnapping and lawlessness were rampant. He claimed that no development work was being carried out in the state back then. However, he asserted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar has seen a new wave of development, with numerous welfare schemes being implemented for the poor. He added that the echoes of development can now be heard throughout the state.
Taking a dig at the opposition, Lalan Singh dismissed Tejashwi Yadav’s promises and plans as nothing more than “Mungerilal ke haseen sapne” (unrealistic dreams), claiming they would never come true. He declared that Bihar is no longer a place where mere promises suffice, as the government’s efforts have brought about tangible changes in the state. He warned Tejashwi Yadav that his dreams would be “immersed in the Ganga.”
The Union Minister also challenged Tejashwi Yadav to explain the state of Bihar left behind by his parents during their tenure. He emphasized that Tejashwi’s parents, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, ruled Bihar for 15 years, but the public deserves to know what progress was made during their time.
Responding to Tejashwi Yadav’s announcements for women, Lalan Singh labeled them as politically motivated and suggested that Tejashwi should also address the performance of his parents during their rule.
Lalan Singh also took a jibe at the Congress party and Priyanka Gandhi. He accused Congress of disregarding the Constitution since independence and remarked that the Prime Minister has shown Priyanka Gandhi a mirror, leaving her with no place to hide.
Highlighting the achievements of the Nitish Kumar government, Lalan Singh stated that Bihar has made remarkable progress under his leadership. Basic amenities like electricity, water, and roads have reached every household, ensuring development for even the most marginalized sections of society.
