Britain’s King Charles III has issued his first statement since being diagnosed with cancer, expressing gratitude to those who have extended their well-wishes during this challenging time. In a heartfelt message, the monarch conveyed appreciation for the overwhelming support received in the wake of the diagnosis.
“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” said King Charles in a statement released by Buckingham Palace.
“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement,” added King Charles, acknowledging the solace found in the outpouring of support.
Moreover, King Charles expressed gratitude for the attention drawn to organizations dedicated to supporting cancer patients in Britain and beyond, emphasizing the positive impact of raising awareness.
In his message, the British Monarch also extended heartfelt appreciation to the medical professionals and cancer charities, highlighting their unwavering commitment and dedication. “My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience,” remarked the monarch.
It is pertinent to note that, following the announcement on Monday by Buckingham Palace of the King’s cancer diagnosis, it was revealed that King Charles would be deferring some official engagements to undergo treatment.
The news of the King’s illness emerged subsequent to his recent hospitalization in January, during which he underwent a corrective procedure for a benign enlarged prostate.
While Buckingham Palace has refrained from disclosing specific details about King Charles’s condition, it has affirmed his optimistic outlook and eagerness to resume public duties at the earliest opportunity.
King Charles’s cancer diagnosis comes just 17 months into his reign following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022, at the age of 96. Despite enjoying generally robust health, the King has faced occasional injuries from his active pursuits such as polo and skiing.
