The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority region is rapidly emerging as one of India’s largest industrial and logistics hubs. With plans to reduce travel time between Delhi and Noida International Airport to just 21 minutes, the Uttar Pradesh government is accelerating multiple infrastructure and connectivity projects across the Yamuna Expressway corridor.
During a high-level review meeting in Lucknow, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi reviewed ongoing development projects, industrial expansion plans, and infrastructure initiatives in the region. Officials discussed road maintenance, rapid compensation systems for farmers, AI training for authority staff, and major transport connectivity projects linked to the upcoming airport.
RRTS and High-Speed Rail to Transform Connectivity
Officials informed the meeting that the Detailed Project Report for the Regional Rapid Transit System connecting Delhi and Jewar Airport has already been approved by the state government and forwarded to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
In addition, plans are being developed to connect industrial sectors and the airport through the Chola-Sandhi railway line. The proposed Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail corridor will also include a station at the Jewar Airport terminal, significantly improving regional mobility.
Once completed, the new transport systems are expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Jewar Airport to just 21 minutes. Experts believe the project could transform transportation across the National Capital Region and boost tourism, trade, and investment.
Yamuna Expressway Emerging as Major Logistics Corridor
The Yamuna Expressway is also being integrated with several major expressways including the Agra Lucknow Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and Ganga Expressway.
With seamless road, rail, and air connectivity, the region is expected to become one of the most strategically connected industrial zones in the country. Experts believe the operationalization of Jewar Airport will further strengthen the area’s role as a major cargo and logistics hub in North India.
The enhanced infrastructure is likely to attract large-scale investments in manufacturing, warehousing, exports, and logistics sectors.
Semiconductor and Industrial Projects Accelerating Growth
Several major industrial projects are already under development in the YEIDA region. Officials stated that North India’s largest HCL-Foxconn semiconductor manufacturing unit is being established in the area. A large electronic manufacturing cluster is also under construction.
In addition, multiple industrial parks including apparel parks, medical device parks, MSME parks, handicraft parks, toy parks, and data parks are being developed to strengthen industrialization and generate employment opportunities.
Authorities also shared plans for a new urban city spread across 4,700 acres in the Tappal-Bajna region. A master plan for Hathras is under preparation, and the Yamuna Expressway is expected to be extended further toward Agra in the coming years.
Faster Farmer Compensation and AI-Based Governance
The minister instructed officials to ensure fast online compensation payments to farmers affected by land acquisition. Directions were also issued to simplify the process for obtaining NOCs and map approvals through digital systems.
Authorities were additionally asked to introduce AI-based training programs for employees to improve future administrative and technological capabilities. Officials believe artificial intelligence will play a key role in modern governance and infrastructure management.
Hydrogen Bus Services Planned for Airport Connectivity
Officials confirmed that commercial flight operations from Noida International Airport are expected to begin from June 15. To support passenger transportation, YEIDA plans to operate five hydrogen-powered buses between Pari Chowk and Jewar Airport.
The bus services will run according to flight schedules, while additional transport connectivity from Delhi, Haryana, and nearby regions will also be strengthened to improve airport access for travelers.
