Concerns over policing inefficiencies and rising safety issues dominated a key meeting of the Federation of Noida Resident Welfare Associations (Phonerwa), where representatives from 29 RWAs discussed pressing civic challenges and called for immediate administrative intervention.
A significant meeting of the Federation of Noida Resident Welfare Associations (Phonerwa) was held with participation from office bearers of 29 RWAs across Noida. The agenda focused on various civic issues affecting residential sectors, with particular emphasis on public safety, policing, and the overall law and order situation. Members present at the meeting expressed strong dissatisfaction with the current functioning of the Noida Police, citing lack of coordination, delayed responses, and increasing concerns among residents.
Lack of Regular Engagement with Police
One of the primary concerns raised during the meeting was the absence of regular interaction between RWA representatives and police officials. Members pointed out that structured meetings between RWAs and the police, which were earlier instrumental in resolving local issues, have not been conducted for a considerable period. This gap in communication has made it difficult for residents to effectively convey their concerns and seek timely redressal.
Participants noted that despite repeated attempts to reach out to chowki in-charges, Station House Officers (SHOs), and other concerned officials, responses have been inconsistent. In several cases, complaints have either not been addressed or have faced significant delays, leading to frustration among residents and RWA members.
Delays in Action and Growing Discontent
The issue of delayed action on complaints was highlighted as a major area of concern. Members stated that even when complaints are formally registered, the follow-up action often lacks urgency. This delay has resulted in minor issues escalating into more serious problems, affecting the overall sense of safety within residential areas.
RWA representatives emphasized that an effective grievance redressal mechanism is essential to ensure timely resolution of issues. They called for a more accountable system where complaints are tracked, monitored, and resolved within defined timelines.
Concerns Over Deteriorating Law and Order
The meeting also brought attention to a perceived decline in law and order in several parts of Noida. Members expressed concern that the situation has worsened following recent administrative changes at the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) level. According to participants, there has been a noticeable reduction in visible policing, including patrolling, which has contributed to a growing sense of insecurity among residents.
Representatives from different sectors shared instances indicating that response times to incidents have increased, and preventive measures appear to be lacking. This has led to heightened anxiety among residents, particularly regarding safety in residential neighborhoods.
Demand for Strengthening Police System
Phonerwa office bearers urged senior authorities to take immediate cognizance of the issues raised and initiate corrective measures to strengthen the policing system. They stressed the need for improved coordination between RWAs and the police, revival of regular interaction meetings, and establishment of a responsive and transparent complaint resolution framework.
The members also highlighted that restoring public confidence in law enforcement requires consistent engagement, timely action, and visible presence on the ground.
Delegation to Meet Police Commissioner
Phonerwa President Yogendra Sharma stated that a delegation from the association will soon meet the Police Commissioner of Gautam Buddh Nagar to formally present the concerns discussed during the meeting. The delegation aims to seek concrete assurances and actionable steps to address the issues affecting residents.
General Secretary K K Jain reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts between the community and law enforcement agencies to ensure a safer environment.
The meeting was attended by several RWA representatives, including Yogendra Sharma, K K Jain, Vijay Bhati, Ashok Mishra, Pawan Yadav (Advocate), Latsahab Lohia, Sanjay Chauhan, Shyam Singh Yadav, Ashok Sharma, Vinod Sharma, Devendra Kumar, G S Sachdeva, Koshinder Yadav, Sushil Yadav, Bhushan Sharma, Anil Tyagi, R K Singh, Jenter Singh, Rajeev Chaudhary, Ram Lakhan Chaudhary, Subhash Bhati, T C Gaur, Sunil Badhwa, Rampal Bhati, Raghvendra Dubey, Amit Chauhan and others.
The discussion concluded with a collective call for immediate improvements in policing, stronger coordination mechanisms, and proactive measures to ensure safety and security across Noida’s residential sectors.
