Taiko, a burgeoning Ethereum Layer-2 solution, has unveiled plans for an airdrop following a significant injection of $15 million in funding received back in March.
The TKO token airdrop, announced on May 22, commemorates two years of development work on the zkEVM Taiko framework. A noteworthy 5% of the total TKO token supply will be allocated for the inaugural season airdrop. This airdrop will encompass categories such as Taiko Proposers, Provers, Bridgers, general users who have accrued points through Galxe, programmers, GitHub contributors, and members of the Loopring community. Eligibility verification can be conducted via claim.taiko.xyz, with a 7-day window for eligibility checks followed by a month-long period for token collection.
In tandem with the airdrop initiative, Taiko has introduced the Trailblazers program, inviting users to undertake weekly tasks to earn points both pre and post mainnet launch.
Positioning itself as a decentralized and scalable Layer-2 solution for Ethereum, Taiko employs ZK-Rollup technology to enhance scalability efficiently. With a decentralized, permissionless, and secure framework, Taiko prioritizes compatibility with Ethereum’s EVM by supporting a broad range of ZK-EVM opcodes.
Taiko’s ZK-Rollup approach, which delegates authentication infrastructure to Ethereum’s authentication infrastructure for transaction and block management, has garnered praise for its security and censorship-resistant attributes.
The latest round of funding, totalling $37 million since inception, underscores Taiko’s growing prominence in the Ethereum ecosystem. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has commended Taiko’s “fascinating work,” particularly its pursuit of perfect compatibility with Ethereum’s EVM, even at the expense of slower ZK-proof generation.
