Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 25 (ANI): Moradabad’s Bholenath colony has been facing severe waterlogging conditions due to the excessive rains on Thursday.

Residents of the colony have been using boats to navigate through the waterlogged streets.

On the waterlogging situation, the Municipal Commissioner, Divyanshu Patel, said that three to four pumps have been installed to drain out the water. He also said that the reasons behind the waterlogging are temporary.

“Three to four water pumps were installed in the colony to drain out the water. The reason behind the waterlogging is temporary.”

Further, he said that the permanent illegal encroachment in the colony has led to the main drain being choked. “The permanent illegal encroachment over the main drain there has led to it being choked,” he said.

Earlier today, rain lashed parts of Lucknow city in Uttar Pradesh and parts of Delhi, bringing relief from the persistently humid weather.

Visuals from Lajpat Nagar and ITO in Delhi showed commuters leaving for work in the rain. Additionally, severe waterlogging was also witnessed in Sector 62, Noida, after incessant rainfall in the area.

On Wednesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also issued an orange alert in Uttar Pradesh, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm).

The Delhi-NCR experienced a heavy spell of rain on Wednesday, causing severe waterlogging in several areas, including the Zakhira underpass, NH-24 highway, Moti Bagh, Tughlaq road, Akshardham flyover, and RK Puram.

Following this, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory regarding heavy traffic at Mahatma Gandhi Marg due to severe waterlogging at the Nigam Bodh Ghat.

The advisory issued mentioned the diversion point as Chandgi Ram Akhara. Traffic diversions were made effective by the police. Delhi recorded 108 mm of heavy rain till 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. (ANI)
