In a bid to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector, the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Switzerland Tourism.
This landmark MoU, the first of its kind between the two tourism entities, aims to promote the development of the tourism industry and facilitate collaborative tourism projects between Saudi Arabia and Switzerland. It sets a new precedent for international cooperation in the tourism sector.
A key focus of this partnership is the identification of joint marketing initiatives to showcase the unique attractions of each country. Special emphasis will be placed on specific tourism sectors such as marine activities, culture and heritage, and rural tourism. The goal is to attract travelers seeking distinctive experiences and position both Saudi Arabia and Switzerland as premier destinations that cater to every tourist’s preferences.
Furthermore, the STA and Switzerland Tourism will collaborate to leverage the latest technology in the industry to enhance the travel experience for visitors. This will involve increased cooperation between local tourism agencies and operators to foster partnerships and add value to the tourism offerings of both countries.
Commenting on the partnership, Fahd Hamidaddin expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to embark on this historic collaborative journey with Switzerland Tourism, which is the first of its kind between Saudi Arabia and any tourism board.” He highlighted the significant increase in visits from Switzerland to Saudi Arabia in recent years and emphasized the growth opportunities this agreement will unlock for both nations.
Livio Gotz underscored the importance of Saudi Arabia as a key market for Switzerland Tourism, noting the substantial contribution of Saudi travelers to the tourism sector. He also highlighted Switzerland’s efforts to enhance its appeal to Saudi guests, including the establishment of a dedicated representative in Riyadh.
In addition to joint marketing initiatives, the STA and Switzerland Tourism will organize events, exhibitions, and conferences in both countries to further tourism development.
