  • Expected July launch with upgraded display and performance improvements.

Samsung is reportedly working on its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is expected to launch later this year. As anticipation builds around the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, a recent leak suggests that the device may introduce a redesigned S-Pen, featuring a thicker body for improved ergonomics and functionality. This potential redesign comes shortly after Samsung removed Bluetooth capability and the built-in battery from the S-Pen of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, indicating a shift in the company’s approach to stylus technology.

The latest information regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s S-Pen comes from a tipster, @PandaFlashPro, who posted on X (formerly Twitter). According to the leak, the new stylus will be significantly thicker than the one used in the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Unlike the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which includes a dedicated holster for the S-Pen, Samsung’s flagship foldable does not integrate a built-in slot for the accessory. This allows more design flexibility, making it possible for Samsung to implement additional improvements without space constraints. Reports suggest that the stylus could feature a new tip to enhance the writing experience, making it more precise and comfortable for users.

The new S-Pen is rumored to enter production in June, just a few months before Samsung’s anticipated launch event for its next-generation foldables. If Samsung follows its usual product release timeline, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its clamshell counterpart, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, could debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July. The stylus redesign aligns with Samsung’s strategy of refining its accessories to complement the premium foldable experience, positioning the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as a high-end productivity device.

Beyond the S-Pen, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to bring several hardware upgrades. Previous reports indicate that the device could feature displays with peak brightness levels of up to 2,600 nits, significantly improving outdoor visibility and HDR performance. Powering the device could be the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, a custom-tuned processor designed for Samsung’s premium lineup. The smartphone is rumored to come in multiple storage configurations, including 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, paired with 12GB of RAM to handle demanding applications and multitasking.

The foldable device may also receive refinements in its hinge mechanism, main camera, and display structure, promising enhanced durability and usability. However, reports suggest that the battery capacity and charging speed will remain unchanged from the previous model. If accurate, this means the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will retain the 4,400mAh battery of its predecessor, likely maintaining similar endurance levels.

Samsung has been aggressively pushing its foldable smartphone lineup, making continuous improvements to cement its leadership in the market. With each new iteration, the company has refined the Galaxy Z Fold series, addressing concerns related to durability, screen quality, and user experience. The rumored enhancements to the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s S-Pen, display, and performance suggest that Samsung is focusing on delivering a premium foldable experience while maintaining consistency in battery life and charging technology.

As the launch date approaches, more details regarding Samsung’s next-generation foldables are expected to emerge. The company has yet to confirm any official specifications or design changes, but leaks and industry reports suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be one of the most refined foldable devices yet. With a redesigned S-Pen, upgraded displays, and a powerful chipset, the smartphone is likely to cater to both productivity users and tech enthusiasts seeking cutting-edge innovation in the foldable segment.
