The search for the intruder who violently attacked actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence on Thursday is ongoing, with the Mumbai Police intensifying their investigation. Despite 50 hours passing since the incident, the attacker remains at large. Police have recorded statements from over 30 individuals in connection with the attack, and one person was detained initially but released before being taken into custody again for further questioning.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra home, located on the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan building. The actor was stabbed six times by an intruder who allegedly broke into his home with the intention of committing a burglary. The brutal attack left Saif Ali Khan bleeding profusely, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery. Thankfully, the actor is recovering well, according to sources close to him.
Authorities have revealed that the attacker spent approximately 30 minutes inside Saif Ali Khan’s residence. Police investigations indicate that the intruder was familiar with the building’s layout and entered through an unconventional route. The suspect scaled a wall of an adjacent compound to gain access to the property. After navigating the rear side of the building, he took the stairs to reach Saif Ali Khan’s floor and subsequently entered the apartment through the fire escape.
According to the police, the intruder demanded Rs 1 crore from the actor during the attack. The assailant was reportedly confronted by Eliyama Philips, the nurse who cares for Saif Ali Khan’s younger son, Jehangir (Jeh). Philips described the attacker as a man aged between 35 and 40, with a dark complexion, a slim build, and a height of approximately 5 feet 5 inches. In a statement, she recalled the harrowing moment when the attacker entered the flat, and later encountered him fleeing after the violent assault on Saif Ali Khan.
CCTV footage from the area has played a pivotal role in the investigation. The police have seized several videos showing the assailant’s movements. One video captured the man climbing the stairs to the building before entering Saif Ali Khan’s flat. Another footage, taken from the sixth floor, shows the intruder fleeing the scene after the attack. In both videos, the attacker was seen carrying a bag and his face was obscured.
In the wake of the attack, political tensions have flared up, with some leaders speculating about possible criminal links. Maharashtra State Minister Yogesh Kadam, however, dismissed these claims, clarifying that the attack was not carried out by any underworld gang. He affirmed that the primary motive behind the attack was theft, and not any gang-related activity. The manhunt continues, with the police forming 20 investigation teams, including 10 from the Crime Branch, to piece together more evidence and track down the attacker.
Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife, has also been involved in the ongoing investigation. On Friday evening, she recorded a statement with the Bandra Police at her residence. The police have been in close contact with the Saif Ali Khan family, and their investigation is focused on uncovering the identity of the intruder.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that the police would soon make an arrest. “Police investigation is going on, and they have obtained several crucial clues. I believe the police will soon close in on the suspect,” he stated.
As the investigation progresses, the Mumbai Police are optimistic that the attacker will soon be apprehended. With the public’s safety at the forefront, the authorities remain committed to resolving the case and bringing the responsible individual to justice.
