The Ram temple in Ayodhya faced issues with water leaking from its roof following heavy rainfall, according to chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das. This incident occurred after the temple was recently opened to the public.
Das expressed concern over what he perceived as negligence in the temple’s construction, citing a lack of drainage systems to manage rainwater. He urged temple authorities to address these issues promptly.
Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the temple construction committee, responded by instructing repairs to the roof and measures to waterproof it after being informed of the leakage.
Speaking on the temple’s construction progress, Mishra mentioned ongoing work on the first floor with a projected completion by July, aiming for overall completion by December.
The leakage reportedly occurred during heavy rain on Saturday night, affecting areas including the sanctum sanctorum where devotees visit for VIP darshan.
Local officials responded to the rain’s aftermath, addressing severe waterlogging and infrastructure issues in Ayodhya, including water entering houses and road collapses.
Meanwhile, political reactions surfaced with the Congress accusing the BJP of corruption in temple construction and civic projects in Ayodhya.
Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai criticized alleged mismanagement and poor construction quality, highlighting concerns raised by the temple’s chief priest regarding the leakage issue.
Efforts to obtain comments from top officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) regarding the infrastructure problems were unsuccessful.
