Rohit Sharma refuted recent media reports suggesting a special meeting with selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and head coach Rahul Dravid to discuss T20 World Cup 2024 selection matters. Urging fans to disregard speculation and rumors, Sharma laughed off suggestions regarding team composition for the upcoming tournament, slated to commence on June 1 in the USA and the West Indies.

Rohit Sharma humorously addressed the purported meeting, quipping about Agarkar’s golfing activities in Dubai and Dravid’s coaching sessions with his sons in Mumbai. Denying any formal discussions, Rohit Sharma emphasized the importance of official announcements from credible sources, such as himself, Dravid, Agarkar, or representatives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Referring to media claims about his meeting with Agarkar and Dravid, Sharma clarified that he had not engaged in such discussions and emphasized the need for transparent communication channels regarding team selections. Media reports had speculated on various selection matters, including the inclusion of Hardik Pandya in the squad and Rohit Sharma’s potential opening partnership with Virat Kohli in the T20 World Cup.

While Virat Kohli leads the run charts in IPL 2024 with stellar performances for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rohit Sharma recently showcased his batting prowess with a century for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, Hardik Pandya’s inconsistent form amid his elevation to Mumbai Indians’ captaincy has drawn attention.

Responding to an inquiry from former England captain Michael Vaughan during the podcast, Sharma expressed admiration for Rishabh Pant’s entertaining style of play and humor. Pant’s impressive performances with both bat and gloves for Delhi in IPL 2024 have garnered attention, further fueling speculation about his inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad.

India is expected to announce its squad for the T20 World Cup in the last week of April, adhering to the tournament’s regulations mandating team submissions a month before its commencement. With anticipation building, fans await official confirmation of the final squad composition from cricketing authorities.
