  • Kohli's vintage knock powers RCB to a crucial victory

Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a power-packed show at the Wankhede Stadium to end their six-match losing streak at the venue, riding on masterclass batting from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar. Chasing 210, the pressure was immense, but RCB held their nerve and crossed the line with style despite a late scare from Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma.

Virat Kohli leads the charge, Rajat Patidar provides fireworks

RCB’s innings began with a powerful statement from Virat Kohli, who took on Jasprit Bumrah early in the innings. A remarkable six off Bumrah set the tone, followed by classy shots against Boult and Santner. Virat Kohli imposed himself on every bowler, including Will Jacks and Deepak Chahar, ensuring RCB kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace. His fluent strokeplay was complemented by Rajat Patidar, who took charge after Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the 15th over. Rajat Patidar’s innings was filled with clever footwork, power hitting, and wristy elegance, especially against Hardik Pandya and Santner. Despite a blow to the helmet that required a concussion check, he bounced back with a flurry of boundaries, propelling RCB to a strong total.

Hardik and Tilak nearly pull off a heist

In reply, Mumbai Indians were rocked early but found hope when Suryakumar Yadav fell, prompting an unlikely assault from Hardik Pandya. With 122 needed from 48 balls, Hardik launched into Josh Hazlewood and brother Krunal Pandya, hitting monstrous sixes and pulling off unorthodox strokes that brought Mumbai back into the game. His 32 off just 7 balls stunned the crowd, and with Tilak Varma joining the party, MI threatened to snatch the game. Tilak’s fearless strokes, including reverse sweeps and lofted drives, added to the drama. However, Hazlewood’s accurate yorker and Krunal’s calm final over ensured MI fell short at 209/9.

The dramatic clash was a true rollercoaster that saw emotions swing wildly. Virat Kohli’s brilliance, Rajat Patidar’s calculated aggression, and RCB’s resilience in the final moments helped them finally conquer the Wankhede, marking victories at Eden Gardens, Chepauk, and now Mumbai’s iconic venue. With this win, RCB showed signs of shaking off their past inconsistencies and pushing forward with renewed belief.
