Bollywood stars like Ajay Devgn, Sunny Deol, Arbaaz Khan, and Mahesh Manjrekar have not only showcased their acting skills but have also tried their hand at directing. Now, Rani Mukerji, an actress active in Hindi cinema for over two and a half decades, has expressed her interest in directing.
Rani’s husband, the renowned producer Aditya Chopra, has directed films like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, and ‘Befikre’. Addressing her potential move into directing, Rani said, “For everything, I say Insha’Allah and leave the future to the universe’s mystical powers. Nothing is impossible in life for anyone who has been working in the film industry for so many years. I love every aspect of film production. If I ever get an opportunity to direct, I would love to be a part of it.” Rani has also decided to keep herself away from digital platforms for now.
She expresses a loyalty to cinema halls, saying, “For now, I want to focus solely on films releasing in cinemas, where I began my career 27 years ago. It’s like an arranged marriage for me, where I married the big screen once and am now completely in love with it. I don’t want any other love. I wish to remain loyal to cinemas.” Rani will soon be seen in the upcoming film ‘Mardaani 3’.
