Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 24 (ANI): South Africa opener Quinton de Kock’s 174-run knock against Bangladesh helped the Proteas reach 382/5 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Before the start of the game, Aiden Markram-led South Africa won the toss and decided to bat.

In the first inning, Kock and Reeza Hendricks opened for the Proteas. Even though Hendricks could play an impressive inning and was dismissed in the 6.1 overs by Shoriful Islam for 12 runs (SA 33-1). But Quinton scored 174 runs from 140 balls with a strike rate of 124.29. He smashed 15 fours and 7 sixes.

Rassie van der Dussen replaced Hendricks on the crease, but he could not make a mark in the game. Dussen only played seven balls in the game and was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz for just one run in the 7.5 overs (SA 36-2).

In the first powerplay, the game was equal and South Africa scored 44 runs. While Bangladesh picked up 2 wickets.

The Protease skipper came on the crease after the dismissal of Dussen. Aiden Markram played an important partnership with de Kock to take South Africa to a better position. However, Markram was dismissed by Shakib in the 30.4 overs for 60 runs from 69 balls.
