On the sidelines of the sixth Qatar-U.S. Strategic Dialogue in Washington DC, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani engaged in significant discussions with top US officials on the pressing issue of the Gaza crisis.
In a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the leaders delved into the close strategic ties between Qatar and the United States, focusing particularly on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Emphasis was placed on the joint efforts of both nations to secure an immediate ceasefire in the region and expedite the delivery of essential humanitarian aid into Gaza, ensuring unimpeded access in accordance with international humanitarian law.
Additionally, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani also held discussions with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. The meeting revolved around the robust strategic relations between Qatar and the United States, with special attention given to the evolving situation in Gaza and the efforts of both countries to facilitate a prompt ceasefire. Furthermore, they addressed the imperative of continuous humanitarian aid delivery to alleviate the plight of those besieged in the strip.
Meanwhile, amidst the high-level discussion on the situation in Gaza, an aircraft belonging to the Qatari Armed Forces arrived in the city of El Arish, Egypt, carrying 34 tons of aid, including food supplies.
This aid comes within the framework of the Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people and its full support for them during the difficult humanitarian conditions. Further, during the dropping of the aid, eighteenth batch of wounded Palestinians in the Gaza Strip was also evacuated, in preparation for their treatment in Doha.
