On Sunday, Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, held a meeting with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra. The meeting focused on the latest developments in Sudan and explored strategies to bring an end to the ongoing conflicts in various regions of the country.
One of the key priorities discussed was the support for peaceful dispute resolution, with an emphasis on the protection of civilians and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.
In a statement released, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said, “The meeting discussed the latest developments in Sudan, and ways to halt the fighting in various regions, as well as the support for resolving disputes peacefully. The two sides emphasized the necessity to protect civilians and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the brotherly Sudanese people.”
Further, during the meeting, the Minister also reiterated Qatar’s unwavering commitment to achieving a permanent cessation of military hostilities and urged comprehensive negotiations involving all Sudanese political factions. The goal is to reach a comprehensive agreement that ensures lasting peace, stability, development, and prosperity for the people of Sudan.
