The 5th session of the joint supreme committee between Qatar and Egypt convened in Doha on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two nations. Chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani from Qatar and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Sameh Shoukry, the session underscored the commitment to advancing bilateral relations across various domains.
Key areas of discussion included bolstering cooperation in trade, investment, diplomacy, social affairs, education, and youth empowerment. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing joint Arab action and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships to drive socio-economic development and prosperity.
Amidst deliberations, attention was also directed towards addressing the pressing humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire, safeguard civilians, and facilitate the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid were prioritized, reflecting a shared commitment to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the conflict.
The session witnessed the signing of several significant agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at deepening collaboration between Qatar and Egypt. These included agreements for cooperation in the diplomatic field, social affairs, education and research, international humanitarian law, youth and sports, and enhancing bilateral investment relations. These agreements underscored the multifaceted nature of the bilateral relationship and the commitment to fostering long-term partnerships for mutual benefit.
