Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a groundbreaking Integrated Sea Survival Training Centre in Goa, marking a significant milestone in enhancing India’s maritime safety standards. Developed by ONGC, this unique facility aims to significantly improve sea survival training for personnel, equipping them to better handle maritime emergencies. Alongside this pivotal inauguration, Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Goa encompasses a series of key initiatives aimed at bolstering the nation’s infrastructure and energy sectors.
Advancing Maritime Safety and Training :
The inauguration of the Integrated Sea Survival Training Centre signifies a major advancement in maritime safety training in India. With an anticipated annual training capacity of 10,000 to 15,000 personnel, the centre is outfitted to simulate extreme weather conditions for realistic survival training. This initiative aligns with the nation’s objective to meet global sea survival training standards. “The establishment of this centre is a critical step towards enhancing the preparedness of our maritime personnel to face real-life sea disasters,” Prime Minister Modi stated at the opening ceremony.
Empowering India’s Energy Sector :
A key focus of Prime Minister Modi’s visit is the launch of India Energy Week 2024, scheduled from February 6-9. This prestigious event is set to highlight India’s energy future, drawing participation from 17 energy ministers, over 35,000 attendees, and more than 900 exhibitors globally. “India Energy Week 2024 is designed to inspire innovation and partnership among startups and companies crucial to achieving our energy objectives,” Modi remarked. Featuring six country pavilions, the conference emphasizes the global collaboration in India’s shift from non-renewable to renewable energy sources.
Infrastructure and Development Initiatives :
Beyond energy and maritime safety, PM’s itinerary in Goa includes significant infrastructure and educational developments. He unveiled the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology Goa, which boasts comprehensive facilities for its community. The PM also inaugurated the National Institute of Watersports’ new campus, laid the foundation for a Passenger Ropeway project between Panaji and Reis Magos, and announced the construction of a 100 MLD water treatment plant in South Goa. These projects reflect the government’s vision for a developed India by 2047, as evidenced by Modi’s participation in the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 programme.
