Prime Minister Modi Strengthens Bilateral Ties on UAE Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived on a two-days official visit to the UAE.

Upon his arrival at the Abu Dhabi airport, PM Modi received a warm reception from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The leaders shared a warm-hug reflecting the ties shared between the two partners.

Speaking of his meet with the UAE President, PM Modi said, “Immensely grateful to my brother, HH @MohamedBinZayed, for taking the time to receive me at Abu Dhabi airport. I look forward to a productive visit which will further strength the friendship between India and UAE.”

Bilateral-talks held

The visit commenced with official bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, encompassing a wide range of subjects aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation. The discussions emphasized mutual commitment to enhancing ties across various sectors, including trade and investment, digital infrastructure, fintech, energy, infrastructure, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders also presided over the signing of several crucial Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), marking significant milestones in bilateral relations.

Other significant highlights

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi also lauded the launch of the UAE’s domestic card, JAYWAN, which is based on the digital RuPay credit and debit card stack. The leaders witnessed a transaction using the JAYWAN card, showcasing advancements in financial sector collaboration between the two nations.

Moreover, energy partnership emerged as a key focus area during the discussions, with both leaders acknowledging the UAE’s pivotal role as a major source of crude, LPG, and LNG for India. The establishment of long-term contracts for LNG was highlighted as a positive step towards enhancing energy sector cooperation.

Expressing gratitude, further, Prime Minister Modi thanked President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support in granting land for the construction of the BAPS Temple in Abu Dhabi. The leaders highlighted that the BAPS Temple is a celebration of UAE-India friendship, deep-rooted cultural bonds and an embodiment of the UAE’s global commitment to harmony, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
