President Erdoğan, speaking at the 3rd Antalya Diplomacy Forum, addressed the pressing issues surrounding the Palestinian cause and the ongoing crisis in Gaza. He emphasized the urgency of establishing a Palestinian state as the only means to repay the international community’s debt to the Palestinian people. Erdoğan stressed the necessity of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East al-Quds as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, Erdoğan condemned the atrocities as an attempt at genocide, highlighting the staggering loss of life, particularly among civilians, including children and women. He lamented the failure of international institutions and the collapse of trust in the global justice system due to its perceived incompetence and dysfunctionality in addressing the plight of Palestinians.
Erdoğan criticized Western powers for their unconditional support of Israel, accusing them of complicity in the bloodshed through hypocritical policies. He said, despite an interim ruling by the International Court of Justice demanding Israel to cease its actions, the Netanyahu administration persists in its destructive policies.
Further, the President called upon the international community to provide sincere support for Gaza and the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that words must be backed by concrete actions. He reiterated the imperative of establishing a Palestinian state to restore confidence in the international system and to end the oppression in Palestine.
President Erdoğan added, “For this purpose, Türkiye stands ready to undertake every kind of responsibility, including guarantorship. We will continue to give the necessary support to our Palestinian brothers and sisters and will provide all the contributions in our power to Gaza’s recovery. I once again call upon the international community to sincerely support Gaza and the Palestinian cause. I offer my gratitude to all the friends of Palestine who all across the world take to the streets to condemn the oppression and bravely shout out the truth despite all the pressures. I hope the forum may conduce to fruitful discussions on what can be done to prevent the recurrence of similar massacres in the future.”
