In a significant diplomatic encounter on February 13, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi engaged in discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. Also present at the meeting were Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Major General Abbas Kamel and Head of State Security in Qatar, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi.
The Spokesman for the Presidency highlighted that the Qatari Prime Minister conveyed warm regards from Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to President El-Sisi, emphasizing Qatar’s commitment to continued consultation and coordination between the two nations. President El-Sisi reciprocated with appreciation, underlining the strong bond shared between the peoples of Egypt and Qatar.
A focal point of the discussions was the ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and alleviate the dire conditions faced by civilians. Both leaders also deliberated on joint initiatives to address this urgent humanitarian issue, as well as strategies for the effective delivery of aid. Emphasis was placed on the grave risks associated with escalating operations in Rafah, southern Gaza, and the potential exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis in the region. The meeting underscored the imperative of international collaboration to prevent further conflict escalation and mitigate tension factors.
