Interesting Fact: Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram
Arunachal Pradesh, affectionately known as the ‘Land of the Dawn-lit-Mountains’, holds a special place in India’s geographical and cultural tapestry. Becoming a full-fledged state on February 20, 1987, it was the first Indian territory to greet the rising sun. Formerly known as the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA), the region transformed into a Union Territory on January 20, 1972, before assuming its current status as Arunachal Pradesh. With Itanagar as its capital, nestled in the Papum Pare district, the state boasts a rich history dating back to the 14th century AD, evident in landmarks like the historic ‘Ita fort’.
Meanwhile, Mizoram, also nestled in the Northeastern region of India, holds its own unique charm. With Aizawl as its bustling capital, the name ‘Mizoram’ itself reflects the essence of its identity – ‘Land of the hill people’. Formerly a part of Assam until its emergence as a Union Territory in 1972, Mizoram earned its rightful place as the 23rd state of India on February 20, 1987. This significant milestone marked a pivotal moment in the state’s journey towards greater federal autonomy and self-governance.
