Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated 167 development projects worth ₹5,500 crore in Prayagraj as part of preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025. These projects aim to strengthen the city’s infrastructure and provide seamless connectivity.
During the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated various rail and road projects, including 10 new road over bridges (ROBs), flyovers, permanent ghats, and riverfront roads. These initiatives are intended to improve traffic management in the city and provide better facilities to pilgrims. Reaffirming his commitment to a clean and pollution-free Ganga, PM Modi also flagged off projects related to intercepting, tapping, diverting, and treating small drains flowing into the river.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated major temple corridors in Prayagraj to promote religious and spiritual tourism. These include the Bharadwaj Ashram Corridor, Shringverpur Dham Corridor, Akshayavat Corridor, and Hanuman Temple Corridor. These corridors aim to ease the movement of devotees and boost spiritual tourism.
Additionally, PM Modi launched a specially designed “Kumbh Assistant Chatbot” for Maha Kumbh 2025. This chatbot will provide participants with guidance and updates on key events and essential information related to the event.
Maha Kumbh 2025, a historic and religious event held every 12 years, is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 26. The main bathing festivals, known as Shahi Snans, will be held on Makar Sankranti (January 14), Mauni Amavasya (January 29), and Basant Panchami (February 3).
The Uttar Pradesh Police have also taken measures to enhance security for Maha Kumbh 2025. Director General of Police Prashant Kumar announced the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies into the state police’s CCTV systems to ensure the safety of millions of pilgrims attending the event.
The projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister are expected to not only streamline the organization of Maha Kumbh but also transform Prayagraj into a modern and convenient city.
