Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his participation in the G7 summit in Italy on Friday, marking the culmination of a day-long visit that included significant diplomatic engagements and discussions on global issues.
During an Outreach session at the G7 summit held in Italy’s Apulia region, PM Modi emphasized the need to dismantle monopolies in technology, advocating for creativity to foster an inclusive society. He highlighted India’s pioneering role in formulating a national strategy on artificial intelligence (AI).
Throughout the summit, PM Modi engaged in bilateral meetings with several world leaders, reinforcing India’s diplomatic outreach. He met with US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, Pope Francis, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, among others.
Of particular significance was PM Modi’s first official bilateral meeting with President Macron since commencing his third term as Prime Minister earlier this month. The discussions underscored the strategic partnership between India and France, focusing on defense cooperation and cultural exchanges.
Italy extended invitations to leaders from 11 developing countries across Africa, South America, and the Indo-Pacific region, highlighting the summit’s inclusive agenda.
PM Modi departed for India following his engagements, reaffirming India’s commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation as integral to addressing contemporary challenges.
