Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a conversation with Britain’s King Charles III on Thursday, discussing matters of mutual interest, including the Commonwealth, climate action, and sustainability. The Prime Minister inquired about King Charles III’s health and wished him good health and happiness. The two leaders emphasized strengthening the historic ties between India and the UK.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UK. Reflecting on the deep-rooted historical connections between the two nations, he noted that these ties have grown stronger over time. The leaders also exchanged views on the recently concluded Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in Samoa.
During the discussion, PM Modi praised King Charles III’s active role and continued support on critical global issues like climate change and sustainability. The Prime Minister highlighted several initiatives undertaken by India and stressed further collaboration between the two nations to promote global stability.
PM Modi and King Charles III also extended warm wishes to each other for the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities. Sharing details of the conversation on the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Delighted to speak with HM King Charles III today. Reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening India-UK relations. Exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including the Commonwealth, climate action, and sustainability. Wished him good health and happiness.”
Notably, King Charles III was diagnosed with a form of cancer earlier this year in February, which had temporarily paused his public duties. In April, the British royal family announced that the King would soon resume his public engagements after a period of treatment and recovery. PM Modi expressed his admiration for the King’s recovery and extended his best wishes for his well-being.
This interaction highlights the shared commitment between India and the UK to deepening bilateral cooperation and addressing global challenges together. It symbolizes the ongoing efforts to infuse new energy into the historic relationship between the two nations.
