New Delhi [India], October 18 (ANI): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, on Friday, emphasised India’s remarkable transformation over the last decade and the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Speaking at the SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) event, Goyal highlighted the significant strides India has made across various sectors, from economic growth to technological leadership, and called upon the youth and corporate leaders to contribute to the nation’s bright future.

Reflecting on India’s growth trajectory, Goyal remarked, “The journey has just begun. We’ve had 75 years of independence, and now, in the next 25 years, until 2047, when we celebrate 100 years of independence, we aim to become a developed nation, Viksit Bharat. This journey in the Amrit Kaal will define what 1.4 billion people’s lives are going to be like.”

He further outlined the country’s progress in recent years, particularly in the context of global economic standing. He recalled how, just a decade ago, India was considered part of the fragile five economies, facing slow growth and high inflation.

“Cut to 2024, and look at the transformation that your nation, thanks to all of you, has undergone. From a country which was written off, we are now the envy of the world,” he said, noting that India is now the world’s fifth-largest economy with aspirations to soon become the third-largest.

The minister highlighted India’s rapid technological advancements, particularly in the telecom sector. “India today is respected as a trusted partner. Gone are the days when the world looked down upon India. Ten years ago, we were struggling with 2G, and today we have rolled out 5G across 125 cities faster than any other country,” Goyal remarked.

He also underscored India’s achievements in renewable energy, pointing out that the country achieved its 2030 renewable energy target eight years ahead of schedule. “Our effort to adopt sustainability, our effort to move towards electric mobility, and renewable energy replacing fossil fuels will help India become the harbinger of a better quality of life for the rest of the world,” he said.

Goyal reflected on India’s future vision, noting that India’s demographic advantage, with a young population and strong macroeconomic fundamentals, positions the country to achieve its ambitious goals. “We aspire to be a USD 30 to USD 35 trillion economy by 2047, a developed nation, a prosperous nation,” he said, urging attendees to align their efforts with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
