In the ongoing Federation Cup in Bhubaneswar, Indian athletes Jeswin Aldrin and Tajinderpal Singh Toor faced disappointment as they failed to meet the qualification mark for the Paris Olympics.
Jeswin Aldrin, despite securing the top spot in the long jump with a best effort of 7.99m, fell short of the required 8.27m entry standard. On the other hand, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, the shot putter, managed a series of throws with the best at 20.38m, which was below the 21.50m needed for automatic qualification.
In the men’s 3000m steeplechase event, Sumit Kumar clinched victory with a time of 8:39.67m. However, it’s worth noting that Avinash Sable remains the only Indian male steeplechaser to have secured a spot in the Paris Olympics so far.
The last day of the competition will see Neeraj Chopra in action, marking his first appearance in India since his historic gold medal win in Tokyo.
