Pakistan Army intruded into Indian territory and violated the ceasefire by opening fire on Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC). The incident took place in the Krishna Ghati (KG) Sector of Poonch on April 1, 2025. In response, the Indian Army retaliated with heavy fire.
Reports suggest that Pakistan suffered 2-3 casualties during the exchange. Meanwhile, security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Panjtirthi area of Kathua. Intelligence inputs indicated suspicious activity in the past week, prompting heightened security measures.
Ceasefire Violation in Poonch
According to reports, Pakistan Army regulars attempted to intrude into Indian territory. Their movement triggered a landmine blast, followed by unprovoked firing at Indian positions.
The Nangi Tekri Battalion, under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, responded immediately. Indian troops launched a strong retaliatory strike, forcing the Pakistani troops to retreat.
Reports suggest casualties on the Pakistani side, although there is no official confirmation yet. After the heavy exchange of fire, videos surfaced showing a helicopter evacuating casualties from Pakistan’s Battal sector along the LoC.
Counter-Terror Operations in Kathua
Simultaneously, security forces launched a large-scale search and cordon operation in the Panjtirthi area of Kathua. Intelligence inputs pointed to possible terrorist movement. This led to a joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and CRPF.
Multiple surveillance measures and ambush tactics were deployed to track down the suspected militants. The security alert in Kathua intensified after suspicious movement was detected on March 31. An exchange of fire occurred between security forces and militants, and operations continued into April 1. Reports indicate that three terrorists are hiding in the forests after escaping an earlier encounter.
The counter-terror operations in Kathua have now entered their tenth day. On March 27, security forces engaged terrorists in Hiranagar, Kathua. In that operation, 2-3 militants were neutralized. However, four Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel lost their lives in the line of duty.
With the Rising Star Corps confirming the Kathua operation, security forces remain on high alert. The situation in both Poonch and Kathua is being closely monitored. Authorities are assessing the implications of these developments as the intrusion by the Pakistan army could be an attempt at fresh infiltration in Jammu & Kashmir.
