Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, has issued a statement expressing profound concern about the escalating crisis in the Middle East, specifically the ongoing Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Albusaidi emphasized that this conflict has resulted in the tragic loss of lives and injuries, primarily affecting innocent civilians, including women and children.
The Sultanate of Oman firmly holds the position that the only sustainable resolution to this long-standing conflict lies in addressing its underlying causes and motivations. Key among these measures is the recognition of an independent Palestinian state and the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from all Palestinian territories under their control.
In response to questions regarding recent military actions taken by the United States in Iraq and Syria, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi conveyed Oman’s viewpoint, asserting that the Sultanate does not see the strategic merit in launching such military attacks within the region. These actions, Albusaidi emphasized, pose a threat to the safety and stability of the region and further complicate efforts to find lasting solutions to the pressing challenges confronting the Middle East, including the issues of violence and extremism.
