Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, and Tanja Fajon, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, recently engaged in a critical phone conversation, marking a significant diplomatic effort to address the escalating Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The dialogue focused on the repercussions of the continued Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the urgent international calls for a ceasefire, as well as the pressing need to lift the siege on Gaza to ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid to the affected population.
Both ministers stressed the paramount importance of taking practical steps toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. They underlined that such a state is not only a vital element in achieving the desired security and peace in the region but also an embodiment of justice and compliance with international law.
Sayyid Badr Albusaidi conveyed Oman’s profound appreciation for the Slovenian government’s unwavering support of the just Palestinian cause. Oman commended Slovenia’s advocacy for a ceasefire and its steadfast commitment to upholding the principles of international law throughout the ongoing crisis.
Additionally, the Omani Foreign Minister expressed his confidence in Slovenia’s constructive efforts and diplomatic initiatives, particularly given its current membership in the United Nations Security Council.
Meanwhile, taking to X (formerly Twitter), speaking of the meeting with the Omani counterpart, the Slovenian Foreign Minister said, “In a call w/ MFA of #Oman @badralbusaidi, I once again emphasized importance of immediate #ceasefire in #Gaza. We agreed that growing political will on 2-state solution is crucial to establish credible & viable #PeacePlan. Continuous dialogue w/ all partners in the region is key.”
