Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar missed an important NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. Instead of attending, Kumar was represented by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. The reasons behind Kumar’s absence from the crucial meeting were not immediately clear.
This absence is not an isolated incident, as Nitish Kumar has previously missed NITI Aayog meetings, delegating attendance to his deputies. JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar pointed out that Bihar was represented by its deputy chief ministers during earlier meetings as well. He also highlighted that four Union ministers from Bihar, who are members of the Aayog, attended the meeting, implying that the representation was adequately covered.
The ninth governing council meeting of NITI Aayog focused on the ‘Vikshit Bharat@2047’ document, aimed at propelling India towards becoming a developed nation. The governing council of NITI Aayog comprises chief ministers, Lt Governors of Union territories, and several Union ministers, with PM Modi serving as the chairman.
