A new train linking Ambedkar Nagar in Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, to New Delhi via Kota in Rajasthan has been launched, marking a significant development in the region’s transport connectivity. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, flagged off the train, with the event held on the eve of Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. The initiative is seen as a tribute to Ambedkar’s contributions to India’s constitution and an effort to enhance transportation between important cities.
New Train a Tribute to Dr. Ambedkar
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with CM Yadav, attended the launch through videoconferencing. The new train, named the Dr. Ambedkar Nagar-Kota-New Delhi Express (Train No. 20155/56), is designed to improve travel between Ambedkar’s birthplace and the national capital. Vaishnaw highlighted the train as a tribute to Ambedkar’s monumental role in drafting the Indian Constitution. He also mentioned plans to launch a Bharat Gaurav train to connect significant sites related to Ambedkar’s life, including his place of birth, education, conversion to Buddhism, place of death, and cremation site. This will facilitate easy travel for Ambedkar’s followers to these locations.
Improving Connectivity for Development
Chief Minister Yadav expressed that the new train would benefit Madhya Pradesh by improving connectivity to Delhi, thereby boosting the state’s economic and social development. The improved rail network will provide passengers with easy, convenient, and affordable travel options, enhancing the overall travel experience. Railway officials stated that the train, which will operate daily, will start its journey from Dr. Ambedkar Nagar at 3:30 pm and reach New Delhi by 4:25 am the following day. The return journey will begin from New Delhi at 11:25 pm, reaching Dr. Ambedkar Nagar at 12:50 pm the next day.
Operational Details and Travel Route
The train will cover a distance of 848 kilometers, passing through key cities and destinations like Indore, Ujjain, and Kota. It is expected to provide smooth and efficient travel to the passengers, connecting 15 important cities across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. This new service is anticipated to play a key role in enhancing regional transportation, making travel more accessible for residents and visitors alike.
