This invitation was conveyed through a courtesy call by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who met with Nepal’s prime minister K P Sharma Oli on Sunday. The invitation highlights Nepal’s desire to strengthen diplomatic and cooperative ties with India.
Nepal’s prime minister K P Sharma Oli, who was recently sworn in for his fourth term as Nepal’s Prime Minister following the downfall of the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, expressed his eagerness to foster closer bilateral relations. The Prime Minister’s secretariat released a statement confirming the invitation and underscoring the importance of enhancing Nepal-India cooperation.
In addition to meeting with Nepal’s prime minister K P Sharma Oli, Foreign Secretary Misri also visited former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, the president of the Nepali Congress. Their discussions focused on various issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the commitment to advancing Nepal-India relations and exploring areas for further cooperation.
This diplomatic exchange comes at a time when Nepal and India are looking to build on their historical and cultural ties, as well as to address shared concerns and opportunities for collaboration.
